Fox Farm

Officially started in 1984, Fox Farm is a soil and fertilizer company dedicated to producing fine micro-brewed liquid plant food, fertilizers, and soil mixes. The company began in Humboldt County, benefiting from the cultural movement that brought the community together in the 1970s. All of the formulas sold by Fox Farm undergo testing in greenhouses to ensure they produce consistent, quality results.

Although it was not established until 1984, Fox Farm’s roots began in the early 1980s from the desire to provide garden soil that did not have any sterilization. This was innovative at the time since most soils then were free from microbes on purpose. The founders of Fox Farm knew that this was a bad idea as microbes were crucial for plants to thrive.

The products from Fox Farm are fairly varied. Fertilizers include soluble, slow release, and liquid options. There are also Happy Frog OMRI listed fertilizers for those who want a product that is certified organic.
