About Super Sativa Seed Club

The Super Sativa Seed Club was among the world’s first seed banks and is Dutch. The seed bank began with Sam the Skunkman giving Karel Shelfhout, a founder of the Super Sativa Seed Club, the original Skunk #01 and Haze. Karel used these genetics to produce genetics that would soon become very well-known.

The Super Sativa Seed Club was known worldwide from 1985 to 1987 when the genetics pushed breeding and growing limits. It was featured on the cover of High Times magazine and sales exploded. After two years, the founders separated, and the original seed collection was largely lost.

Karel had saved a daughter of the Super Sativa Seed Club’s original Skunk#01 and Haze. He maintained cuttings of it for over 30 years, calling it Old School Haze. During the 1990s, Karel began to focus on genetic preservation and breeding new strains for Amsterdam coffeehouses. Karel became an authority on indoor cultivation and elite genetics. Karel’s son, Kees, also joined him. In 2015, Kees began reintroducing Karel’s hidden Old School Haze’s original genetics and taste. Now, the company sells original Old School Haze seeds plus various genetics from the original collection of seeds.

The Super Sativa Seed Club is one of the companies in the High Times Hall of Fame.
